Car ferries UK travel tips
• Form E111 is available from the post office and will allow you access
to free or reduced-cost medical care in the EU, Iceland and Norway. It is
completely free, but does not offer the same protection as travel insurance,
so do not treat it as a substitute.
•
It is a good idea to take with you two forms of payment, traveller’s
cheques and a credit card for example, so that if one is lost or stolen you
still have the other to fall back on.
•
Check that your passport is still valid before you go and in good time. Make
sure that your passport is not due to expire within the next 6 months as
this could cause you problems entering some countries.
•
If driving it is a good idea to plan your route before you leave to avoid
stress and in order for everything to run smoothly. A useful website for
journey planning is Multimap, where you can view maps and get directions
at the click of a button.
•
Remember to take everything that you need with you. Your passport, your driving
licence and your travel and car insurance policy and helpline numbers should
be at the top of your list.
